You may have stumbled upon my website in search for Matt Marks, the composer.

In 2021, I acquired mattmarks.com, something I had dreamed of owning since my early adventures in web design. I had always known that the domain name belonged to a fellow Matt Marks, a composer who lived in New York. Shortly after acquiring the domain name, I found out that the reason it was no longer in use: Matt Marks, the composer, had sadly passed away in 2018 at the age of 38. After becoming aware of this, and learning just how amazing this human being was, I realized how important it was to continue to honor the memory of this young man on mattmarks.com

While I never came to know Matt Marks, the composer, it does appear that he and I had many things in common besides the name. In fact, the organization that he was a founding member of, Alarm Will Sound, is described by the New York Times as "The very model of a modern music chamber band" - a play on words from Gilbert & Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance "I am the very model of a modern Major-General" (coincidentally, I act as the Sound Designer and Digital Publicity volunteer for Gilbert & Sullivan of Austin).
